Physiatrists evaluate and plan for the care of patients with difficulties in declining self-help abilities from diseases such as stroke, spinal cord injury, chronic diseases and also of children with cerebral palsy. The treatment is holistically planned by our multidisciplinary team from the different approaches of health promotion, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
For spinal cord injury patients with urinary tract symptoms, physicians can examine and evaluate the urinary system through urodynamic study to diagnose all abnormal conditions and plan a suitable treatment to primarily prevent renal failure. Meanwhile, in patients with muscle spasticity, such as patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, physicians will evaluate the symptoms of spasticity, prescribe anti-spasticity drugs and neurolytic injections to alleviate muscle spasticity of the body. Consequently, patients can be able to exercise and stretch more comfortably resulting in better walking and standing movements.
